Over the course of the project, we had an opportunity to work with many different parties such as designers, engineers, the Municipality, contractors, retail. In this section we reflect upon some of those experiences.
Brick & Stone
Brick and stone work is one of the things that time after time we come back to admire. A crew of around 8-10 did a fantastic job, paying attention to even the smallest detail. Obviously a company with a lot of experience, getting the job done right the first time and very proud of their work.
Joe's Gardening
Joe's Gardening was in charge of landscaping. Joe quickly impressed us with his ability to sense what the customer likes and then work together to bring ideas to life. Whenever a decision was required, Joe would explain options while pointing out pros and cons of each. A combination of experience and care for his work is what makes this contractor unique. Joe is a true landscaping artist.
Marvin windows
Despite being a brand name in the industry, we were repeatedly disappointed by customer service at Marvin. The first problem was when the windows were installed and we realized that the color of the decorative inserts in the glass appeared to be different than the color of the fiberglass frame. We immediately contacted Marvin. The explanation was that the color was the same but the glazing option on the glass made it look like there was a color mismatch. However, at no point had the sales person at Marvin brought this to our attention. The second problem was when missing window hardware such as handles and decorative masks made it to the deficiency list. The missing pieces were lost during construction and had to be ordered. It took 6 months and us making calls to Marvin ourselves to get the parts ordered and delivered. However, a few pieces are still missing and, after ten months and even more calls and messages by our GC and ourselves, have not been delivered yet.
